Matt's Profile
I'm 28 years old, I live in Chichester and now work as a landscape gardener.I have two children aged 7 and 1.
Now as a father I can only hope that I can inspire my two boys to do and become the best they can, just like my father and my grandfather did for me.
As a young boy I would sit for hours listening to my grandad tell me stories about his days in the army all whilst inventing a new gadget or gizmo that would make our life easier to do what ever job we had decided to do that day.
As I grew up, still listening to the stories I became more interested in the army. So when I was old enough I decided to join and try and follow in this great mans footsteps.
I never got to tell him he was a massive inspiration in my life and the main reason for joining up.
Andy's Profile

I'm a little bit older than Matt... okay, I'm a lot older than Matt Dammit! I work in the television industry as a freelance lighting electrician. Like Matt I used to hear the stories of my father's long life. Regretfully, I maybe didn't listen to them with quite the same enthusiasm.
As my father got older I realised that he had an amazing life with a ' Cider with Rosie ' type of upbringing in the Worcestershire countryside. Then moving to Ireland and witnessing such events as Amelia Earhart's flying team land in Lough Foyle, a stones throw (literally) from where he lived.
So, some of his stories stuck in my brain and age has made me want to find out and experience just a little of what he went through in 1939-45.
Maybe it's a sign of getting older but I'm beginning to realise I have a lot to do if I am to tick all the boxes in my bucket list.
I am married to Barbara and we live with our three dogs, Freya, Ginny and Bronte.
